Lush Fresh Face Masks are something I've been incorporating into my skin care routine for about 2 years now and I. Am. Addicted. These Masks have to be kept in the fridge and are made with fresh good-for-your-skin ingredients and in my case have made major improvements. I love how you can experiment with different textures and ingredients to solve your skin issues as the seasons change. For me, my skin is typically dry and sensitive, except when I was pregnant, so I tend to look for a mask that will moisturize, brighten, exfoliate, and detox. Now these masks cost $9.95-$28.95 depending on what size/type you choose. Mine tend to cost about $10 and I repurchase once every month using that mask 2-3 times a week. Lush also has a great recycling program where once you have 5 containers with the recycle stamp on it you get a free Fresh Face Mask if you bring them back to the store! So for every 5 masks you buy you get one free, talk about a great deal. To apply, I remove all traces of makeup and get in a hot shower to let the steam really open up the pores for 5 minutes, and then I’ll dry my face and hands and massage the mask into my skin and let it sit for about 10 minutes. Sometimes I’ll leave it on in the shower or if I have the time I’ll relax in a bubble bath, but if you want to just hang out at your bathroom sink that’s fine too. However, I feel like the steam from a shower/bath really helps the ingredients to sink in! After those 10 minutes I wash it off with warm water and pat my skin dry with a towel and proceed with my normal skin care routine. Here are my reviews:
BB Seaweed- This mask has been a favorite go-to of mine for a long time. If I need something to get a deeper clean into my pores and gently exfoliate without drying me out, this is the one. It’s a calming mask that helps with redness and smells like the ocean, salty with a touch of fresh herbs, and is a white mousse with real seaweed in it. I tend to choose BB Seaweed every-other mask purchased or when my skin is starting to be a little problematic.
The Sacred Truth-The 1st mask I ever tried from Lush and instantly was hooked! It feels so smooth on your face and makes your skin look dewy, plump, and glowy. I love this mask in the winter especially and it’s filled with papaya to moisturize and wheatgrass to nourish. When my skin needs a pick me up and is feeling a little dry and I want some glowing from within radiance, this is the mask!
Oatifix- Right away, you’ll notice how amazing this mask smells! When my skin is feeling super dry, this is the mask I reach for. The oats, banana, and oils are very rich so if you are breaking out I wouldn’t put this on. But it feels so moisturizing and butter-y, when you wash it off it makes your skin feel so soft and hydrated, you’ll be glowing and smelling wonderful! There’s also tiny almonds in this mask that when you rub it in helps to gently exfoliate dry skin.
Rosy Cheeks-When I was pregnant, my skin took a 180. My dry skin suddenly was very oily and I was breaking out like crazy! Rosy Cheeks is a calming mask that helps to restore balance. It smells like fresh roses which I loved, and was a very thick mud-like consistency. I used a little warm water to help spread it on my face easier! Rosy Cheeks was my saving grace through my pregnancy, it helped clear my skin up and keep oil at bay. I’ve also since used this when my skin was back to normal and it didn’t dry my skin out but was a soothing deeper clean. However I still tend to go for a rich moisturizing mask like The Sacred Truth unless my skin is breaking out! I wish these masks didn’t expire because I’d love to keep this mask in the fridge to spot on pimples to clear them up!
Let me know if there’s a Fresh Face Mask you love that I could try! -Brooke
