Cleansers in Rotation

Hey y’all, happy Sunday! As you all know, I’m a huge fan of skincare and believe you should invest in the best you can afford. Here are my favorite facial cleansers I keep in rotation:
Caudalie Gentle Cleansing Milk- $28 for 6.7 oz. I love using caudalie to get in touch with my French heritage. This cleansing milk is my favorite luxury product! It feels so moisturizing, leaves skin so soft, and I love the fresh floral scent. It’s very gentle and removes light traces of makeup; think tinted moisturizer or bareminerals powder. Ingredients include sweet almond, grape seed oils, and Shea butter. You can apply on damp or dry skin. I prefer to use this on days I don’t have much or no makeup on for a relaxing pamper treatment and boost of hydration.
Bareminerals Oil Obsessed Total Cleansing Oil- $30 for 6 oz. This oil is the best makeup remover I’ve found, as the name says it’s easy to obsess over. As you can see, the bottle is almost empty! I've gone through at least 3 bottles since this came out, I always keep a spare. I love the simplicity and spa-like treatment of cleansing with oil. It removes all traces of makeup easily and gently, even waterproof mascara. The ingredients include bilberry, borage, cucumber, sunflower oils, and sea salts. I apply to a dry face with dry hands, massaging in circular motions until makeup is dissolved, and then rinse with warm water. The key is to start without water, as once you mix water in to the oil it turns into a milky consistency and won’t remove makeup as easily. This has really helped my dry skin!
Philosophy’s Purity Made Simple one-step facial cleanser- $24 for 8 oz. This is another excellent makeup remover that I keep on hand, I used to use this faithfully but the Bareminerals Oil Obsessed has replaced this for me as a daily makeup remover. I feel like everyone has heard of this cleanser, it’s all over YouTube and QVC. It melts away impurities from the skin and tones in one step; it’s gentle and hydrating and has the spa-like scent I love. It is a deeper squeaky-clean feeling than the Cleansing Oil, so if oil isn’t your thing I would suggest this for you to try, especially if you wear heavier full coverage makeup like MAC. I still use this occasionally on my face and always reach for this cleanser to deep clean my makeup brushes a few times a month.
Bareminerals Clay Chameleon Transforming Purifying Cleanser- $22 for 4.2 oz. I love this cleanser, it’s just so unique. You can use this as a makeup remover however I prefer to use this as a treatment. I will apply to clean dry skin and let it sit as a mask or if I’m getting a pimple you can spot apply to help clear up. When applied dry this is a reddish brown clay but when mixed with water it turns into a rich cream. It’s like a magnet to detox the skin. The ingredients include Brazilian red clay, sea salts, papaya, and bamboo extract. Afterwards it leaves your skin feeling fresh and smooth. When Bareminerals launched their new skin care line I was impressed, I feel like their new line is a great value for your money and truly makes positive changes; my skin has never felt or looked better!
Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser- $10 for 16 oz. This is what I used all through high school, it's gentle yet effective and sometimes it’s just good to get back to the basics. It’s always worked for my sensitive skin; very mild and soothing and will remove light traces of makeup and regular mascara. My favorite way to apply is to dry skin and then wipe away with a damp wash cloth. If you’re more on a budget and looking for a cleanser from the drugstore I would recommend this for sure. I typically reach for this if I didn’t wear makeup that day and was looking for a gentle basic cleansing in the shower. You can also use this as a body wash and/or shaving cream if you’re traveling or in a pinch.
Bareminerals Mix Exfoliate Smooth Custom Exfoliant- $22 for 25 g. Another Bareminerals product, can you tell I'm a fan? With dry skin it’s necessary to exfoliate to get rid of any dead skin to bring your skin back to a smooth balance. Before Bareminerals came out with this I was a firm believer of Peter Thomas Roth’s Firmx peeling gel, which is still a great chemical exfoliant, but this is the gentlest physical exfoliant I’ve tried. The ingredients include rose, orange, chardonnay, and sea salts. It’s a custom exfoliator, meaning you pour some of the grains into your hand and mix it with any cleanser you choose, gently buffing in circular motions. You can customize it to you. To me it feels like sand, but in a good way. It has tiny particles that help to gently remove dead skin and encourage healthy cell turnover and circulation in your face. It’s just really satisfying to have smooth polished skin that helps to bring back radiance. I’ve mixed this exfoliant with all the cleansers mentioned above, personally I like it mixed with them all but my favorite mix is probably with Caudalie, it’s a really nice consistency. It just depends on what my skin needs. I exfoliate 2-3x a week in the evenings; I don’t put makeup on freshly exfoliated skin, I feel like it beats the purpose.
If you’re looking for a new cleanser, one of these might work for you! Just in time for the Sephora 20% off VIB sale!!
