I bought this foundation almost 2 years ago…as you can tell, the bottle is looking a little rough! I’ve used it a lot and it’s been one of my favorites but to be honest I really don’t reach for it as much since I purchased the Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation and the BareMinerals Made-2-Fit. However, the shade I purchased of the YSL #BD40 is a better match for me right now as I’m easing back into using self-tan lightly and more on the light olive tan side. It’s still a little light but warms up nicely with a cream bronzer. So I have been reaching for it again and trying to get more use out of it before it expires and goes bad. I took these photos over a week ago haha but I found a minute to sit down and type my thoughts together for my review of the YSL Le Teint Touché Éclat Illuminating Foundation!

No filter natural lighting. Foundation provided a light-medium coverage and skin looks glow-y and healthy

This foundation is luxurious and beautiful on, but I find that you have to take a few extra steps to achieve but the end result is glowing healthy looking skin that doesn’t look like you have makeup on. I would say this offers light-medium coverage; it will build up in certain areas if you have redness but I don’t think it’s a good foundation to cover up a lot of texture aka blemishes. I first heard of this foundation from Jessie James Decker because well let’s face it, her makeup always looks gorgeous and I basically buy whatever she and her makeup artist uses! Since I have purchased this they have revamped the formula but I have tested it out in store and it looks/feels the same, at least to me, but the bottle looks a little different and is referred to as “Le Teint Radiance Awakening Foundation” and costs $58 for 1 oz. The first thing I notice is the scent; this foundation smells beautiful, a light floral-rose. But it isn’t overpowering and it doesn’t stay with you all day. My skin is extremely sensitive and I’ve never had any reactions or irritations. The packaging is stunning, I love gold accents, and the pump makes it easy to dispense out. The formula itself is very liquid-y and easy to apply and blend, it looks just like skin. However, like I stated previously I find that you have to use a few other products to achieve that flawless look.
This foundation needs a primer and I’m not even a firm believer on primers. I don’t have a lot of primers because I usually just use the Becca Liquid Shimmering Skin Perfector or the Dermalogica Phyto Replenish Oil because my skin is dry. I’ve tried the Smashbox and Benefit cult-classic primers but they break me out. I bought the Brightening primer from Bareminerals during a sale a year or 2 ago at Ulta and I like how the 2 combine together! (I have the Hourglass Veil Mineral primer on my list to try) I apply 1 pump of the Brightening primer first with my fingers and let it sit for a minute, then go in with the YSL foundation. I first buff it into my skin with the Clinique Foundation Buff brush then pat with a damp Beauty Blender. With the help of this primer the foundation sits much better on my skin and lasts throughout the day and helps even more with making my face look glow-y and dewy. I apply one pump all over and will add a little more on my chin/around my nose where I get the most redness. The main difference between the YSL foundation and the Giorgio Armani/BareMinerals foundations is that I don’t have to powder the Giorgio Armani/BareMinerals. The YSL foundation doesn’t really dry down on the skin so I have to apply a little powder to help lock it in place so it’s not transferring onto my clothes or Audrey or wiping off and smearing. Mostly on my chin is where I have these issues, I think it’s just with more “slippery” foundations that stay wet because I have the same problem with Becca Aqua Luminous and Clinique Repairwear Foundation. I’ve tried a few different powders but the best with this foundation is the Clinique Blended Face Powder. I’ve been a fan of this for a few years now, it’s undetectable and doesn’t make me look matte, just holds everything together and when my skin catches the light it still glows. I’m in the shade Transparency 3, this and a red lipstick from Clinique was the 1st fancy makeup I ever bought in high school! I apply this very light handed-ly with the Clinique Powder Foundation Brush (I’ve had this brush for about 5 years and it’s still going strong!) My other favorite powder is the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in “Diffused Light” but it just looks chalky if I try to dust it over this foundation, they don’t mix well. I only apply lightly cheekbones down because that’s where I’m usually touching my face during the day and kissing on Audrey!

Tried to get closer to show skin in natural lighting (weird facial expressions haha sorry!)

It’s strange but my makeup will actually look better the longer it wears. An hour or 2 after applying this foundation I’ll look in the mirror and my skin jut looks better. Maybe it all mixes with the natural oils on my face or just settles in, who knows! But it offers such a pretty natural glow and my skin looks smooth and soft. I’d say the Touche Eclat foundation lasts about 6 hours before I notice it starting to wear off on my skin. It’s a very beautiful and luxurious foundation and would recommend to test out the next time you’re in Sephora or Nordstrom if you’re into glow-y skin and more on the dry side! With this foundation I like to keep the focus more on the skin and stick to cream products because it just looks best. You could use this as an everyday foundation or save it for more special occasions; I’m just a Blair Waldorf wannabe when it comes to luxurious makeup and skincare haha. When looking back in photos I will also mention that my skin always looks really pretty when I was wearing this foundation, it photographs really well. BUT, just my honest opinion, I would try the Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation and the Bareminerals Made-2-Fit Fresh Faced Foundation too because I personally think they’re better and last longer on the skin! I’ll list the rest of my makeup used to create this look down below!
